On the 7th of May I was given the opportunity to present at the Undergraduate Conference at the University of Lincoln. A conference organised by the University’s own School of Psychology.
It was a pleasure to talk about my PhD with the first year’s psychology students. I had almost forgotten how much I love sharing my passion for research with other students.
There is a certain feeling that presenting to them gives me. Before going into the room, a sense of nervousness with adrenaline rushing through my veins and a heart rate that goes through the roof almost overpowers me. It reaches the pinnacle when I enter the room. But then, as soon as I speak the first word, a click in my brain is made, a switch that enables me to keep talking, surfing the wave of passion. Soon I forget about the fear or the hesitation to present in front of this group. It is as if something takes over and I enjoy the whole experience, feeling reassured in the process.
The School of Psychology did a wonderful job in organising this event. It was my pleasure to present to this friendly and appreciative group of young people.
With this, my first ‘official’ presentation in England has become reality…
